What Does Being Lonely Mean?

Yesterday (9th May) marked the start of Mental Health Awareness Week. We are all so much more aware of Mental Health and it's affects on our wellbeing now. There is a theme each year and this year it's Loneliness.

Being connected and part of a community - no matter how small - is one of our basic needs. If that need is not met it affects us in all sorts of ways and at it's worst can lead to depression and other serious conditions.

Loneliness can take many forms. Maybe you are just not connected to enough people, spend too much time alone and crave more company and interaction. It's often assumed that elderly people are our lonely community members but statistics show that many young people feel lonely. Some people can be lonely in a crowd though - if they feel different, excluded, feel misunderstood or just don't feel they fit.

If any of this resonates with you take a good look at what you do or don't do. Are you stuck at home working online? A single mum or dad and too busy with a young family? Are you missing meeting people due to health issues? Aare you on your own after a relationship break-up or bereavement? Are you unable to get out and about due to anxiety or fear of something? So many issues affect us and restrict how we can interact with others.

Hypnotherapy can help you explore all of these questions and start to feel more positive about expanding your world, building confidence, dealing with fears and phobias.
