How’s Your Relationship with Food and Drink after Lockdown?

As we mostly now seem to be going about life as normal as we can, are you lamenting all the bad food or drink choices you made during the pandemic. Are you still struggling to lose that COVID belly or stop that habit of having a drink at the end of every day? Are you not doing well at incorporating a little exercise or movement like you promised yourself?
When we are bored, stressed or emotional our brain is triggered to soothe us, make it better. But this is a primeval part of our brain that is designed to save us from tigers and other dangers to life. So, we take instant action to make ourselves feel better – treat ourselves to chocolate, alcohol, another coffee, crisps, cakes etc. Then the thinking part of our brain, which needs a bit more time, kicks in and starts telling us why we shouldn’t have done that and all sorts of guilt and shame creep in. Then we feel bad so we soothe ourselves again to push the feelings away. It becomes a cycle we repeat often.
All of these habits sit within our sub-conscious mind. It’s a bit like driving a car or walking – we don’t have to think about that anymore. Likewise, reaching for the biscuit tin can be done on autopilot, in a bit of a trance even. Before we realise what we have done ……….. we've done it again! And so the habit is born.
Hypnotherapy is a very gentle way of accessing your sub-conscious mind and challenging and changing those habits and also the feelings we are pushing down.
