Look for the good

I’ve always been a hibernator in the winter. Sitting indoors enjoying being cosy and warm and taking some rest time but always a little grumpy about the cold, wet and grey weather outdoors. Lockdown has changed all that!
I bought myself a decent winter coat and have really embraced cold-weather walks. It’s been the only way to meet up with some of my lovely friends and family, but it’s taught me that a bit of cold or wet or mud is okay actually. It’s so good for our wellbeing to get outside in the fresh air and I'm sorry I missed years of not enjoying all of that.
I’ve enjoyed looking out for signs of Spring – buds on trees, bulbs popping up, birds busily flitting about. I love the signs of new life. It makes me feel really hopeful for the future. It’s been a week of new things for us as our first grandchild was born yesterday, what a lovely sense of the future she has brought to the family.
So, let’s all go forward from today into the last period of lockdown with hopeful hearts and look for the good in all that we do. Look for simple pleasures and small things to be grateful for. There’s so much research and evidence that doing that helps lead us to a positive mindset which can shift our overall joy in life. Try it!
Of course, it’s still really difficult for some to summon up hope and gratitude for many reasons and Hypnotherapy can be such an amazing changer for those who are truly stuck.
